Equalisation tanks even out flow and load before treatment, and they only work if the tank is mixed. Otherwise strong and weak streams pass through separately and solids settle on the floor. Process-water and chemical holding tanks have similar needs.
FMT side entry mixers for water service use SS 304 or SS 316 wetted parts and a single mechanical seal, with a gear or belt drive. We size them for the tank hydraulics, the suspended solids and the water chemistry.
Typical applications
- Equalisation tanks
- Utility and process-water tanks
- Condensate polishing unit (CPU) tanks, where a tank-mixing duty exists
- Selected solids-bearing or chemical holding tanks
Mixing objectives
- Better tank circulation
- Uniform load in equalisation duty
- Less solids settling where required

What we look at when sizing
- Tank shape and liquid level range
- Suspended solids content
- Water chemistry: pH and chlorides
- Material selection for corrosion
- Maintenance access and motor duty
