Side entry mixers, engineered for your tank
Also called side entry agitators, they mount on the tank wall, so the drive stays at ground level. Each one is sized for your tank and your process, and made to order in our Pune works.
- Motor power
- 2.2–55 kW
- Shaft speed
- 280 or 450 rpm
- Drive
- Gear or belt
- Shaft seal
- Single or double

Oil & Gas
Engineered for crude oil, fuel oil and intermediate-product tanks, where the contents need to circulate, stay uniform and settle less.
- Crude oil storage tanks
- Tank farms and terminals
- Fuel oil and intermediate-product storage tanks
Power / FGD
Slurry-duty agitators for flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) plants, designed to keep solids in suspension in abrasive and potentially corrosive slurry.
- Limestone slurry tanks
- Slurry storage and handling tanks
- Absorber recirculation tanks, where a side entry mixer suits the specific vessel
Food & Dairy
Gentle circulation for raw milk and hygienic liquid storage, with stainless steel throughout and a gear drive.
- Raw milk storage tanks and silos
- Process-liquid holding tanks
- Hygienic storage systems
Edible Oil
Circulation, blending and temperature equalisation in edible oil tanks, sized for how the oil's viscosity changes with temperature.
- Edible oil storage tanks
- Blending and holding tanks
- Heated tanks needing temperature equalisation
Paper & Pulp
Keep fibre evenly distributed through the chest, so the stock leaving it stays uniform.
- Pulp stock chests (blend, machine, broke and storage chests)
- Fibre suspension tanks
- Intermediate process tanks
Water & Wastewater
Circulation, equalisation and solids suspension in treatment and process-water tanks.
- Equalisation tanks
- Utility and process-water tanks
- Condensate polishing unit (CPU) tanks, where a tank-mixing duty exists
Distillery
Keep wash and slurry uniform in fermenters, beer wells, liquefaction and holding tanks.
- Fermenters and beer wells, where agitation is specified and suitable
- Liquefaction-section tanks
- Wash and slurry tanks
CBG & Biogas
Mix large digesters through the wall, below the liquid level, with no opening in the gas roof and the drive serviceable from the ground.
- Anaerobic digesters
- Slurry and substrate (feed) tanks
- Press mud, dung, food-waste and agri-residue digesters
One range, configured for each duty
Every FMT side entry mixer is made to order. These are the building blocks we configure for your tank.
12 standard ratings, FLP or NFLP
From a 4-pole, 1500 rpm motor at 50 Hz
Gearbox, or single-stage V-belt
Axial flow, sized for your tank
Mechanical seal with shut-off device; double for oil & gas and FGD
Duplex option for FGD slurry
Inside an FMT side entry mixer
Everything that needs looking after sits outside the tank. Point at a part, or tap it, to see what it does.

FMT side entry mixers at work
The motor, gearbox, bearing housing and seal stay outside the tank. Only the end of the shaft and the impeller are inside.

Why a side entry mixer?
On a tank that is wide compared with its height, a side entry mixer usually does the job with less installed cost than a top entry agitator.
No roof structure
Nothing hangs from the roof, so floating roofs and light cone roofs need no bridge or reinforcement.
Short shaft
The shaft only reaches a short way into the tank, so it stays stiff, light and inexpensive.
Ground-level service
Motor, drive, bearings and seal are all outside the tank and reachable without cranes or roof access.
Whole-tank circulation
The jet along the floor sets the whole tank circulating, which blends it and limits settling.
From your tank data to a drawing
Your tank data
Diameter, levels, product, density, viscosity, temperature and what the mixer must achieve.
Duty and power
We set the power for the duty and work out how many units the tank needs.
Mechanical design
Impeller, shaft, bearings, drive and seal are checked against the loads on them.
Offer and GA drawing
A technical offer with a GA drawing, nozzle details and a price, for your approval.
Built in our Pune works
FMT makes its mixers at its own works in Pune, with in-house machining and fabrication, and assembles them there.
